At St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SMUSVM), a member of GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools (GUS Med & Vet), we are so proud to celebrate our new veterinary graduates each year at Commencement. On June 7, 2025, this year’s ceremony was held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Rhode Island, U.S.
It is a day filled with joy and energy, as our brand new Doctors of Veterinary Medicine achieve a goal they’ve been working towards for many years, and show off their passion and commitment to care for all to see.
From the St. Matthew’s University and GUS Med & Vet teams, we are so pleased to share our deepest congratulations with the Class of 2025!
As this group of new veterinarians head out into the world to provide impactful care for animals, their families and communities, we are so excited to see everything they will experience and accomplish.
As part of the big day, the keynote address was delivered by Dhanjit Litt, MD, a General Internist, Program Chief & Medical Director at Trillium Health Partners, and Partner and Chief Medical & Wellness Officer at HealthOne. To learn more about him, check out his recent appearance on The White Coat Network Podcast.
Dr. Litt is a graduate of our fellow GUS Med & Vet institution, Saba University School of Medicine, and he inspired the gathered participants with messages like this: “I walked across a very similar stage 14 years ago and doing so gave me an opportunity to make my dreams come true. That same opportunity is being handed to you today. I hope that you will accept this next challenge in healing our systems of care – know that through this challenge, you can make your dreams come true!”
As a representative of our veterinary graduates, student speaker Rylee Nelson, DVM also shared a message that will resonate with us for years to come: “Let’s remember that our work as doctors is not just a profession; it’s a calling. Never lose the passion you began with… Whether they are someone’s family member or a beloved canine companion, you are their person of reason and comfort.”
We thank Dr. Litt and Dr. Nelson for their thoughtful addresses and would like to congratulate all our graduates once more!
