Dr. Ismail graduated with honors from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).  He was then granted a scholarship at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine Large Animal Teaching Hospital to pursue specialized veterinary training in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery,  and was enrolled in a one-year internship and 3-years residency programs. He was instrumental in developing the clinical program at St. Matthew’s. During his academic and research career, Dr. Ismail has focused on promoting concepts of animal welfare among veterinary students, university students and the public at large.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ismail authored more than 130 peer-reviewed articles and served as reviewer for more than 10 international veterinary journals. Dr. Ismail began his research career specializing in areas related to Food Animal Medicine and Surgery. In subsequent years, He worked in the field of pharmaceutical research and development business and pre-clinical studies using mice and rabbit models. Currently, His work has refocused in problem-based, industry-oriented research, related to dairy cow management and production.

Dr. Ismail is committed to providing the best and most up-to-date animal and public health services for the benefit of society through education, research, public service, and outreach. He is always committed toward the achievement of the organization’s goals by promoting team work, leadership, respect among peers with a willingness to go the extra mile.

Other Departments

St. Matthew's curriculum was designed by U.S.-based faculty and parallels training at top U.S. medical schools. It involves ten semesters of concentrated academic and clinical study split between Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences.

Faculty

All St. Matthew's University faculty have an advanced veterinary and/or doctoral degree (DVM, PhD) with postgraduate training in a veterinary or academic specialty, as well as demonstrated experience in teaching and/or research. Our dedicated full-time faculty are assisted by adjunct faculty who are world-leading specialists and travel to Cayman each semester to teach our students.
