Policy and Governance

Policy Repository

University Policies and Procedures are official documents that represent governance in action.

The primary purposes of Policies and Procedures are translating the University’s mission into day-to-day activities for the community, outlining SMU’s expectations of its members, and enhancing the efficiency of its operations.

All members of the SMU Community are bound by the terms of SMU’s Policies and Procedures and are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the policies and procedures that are in effect.

Senate

St Matthew’s University is committed to academic governance that incorporates formal and structured input from faculty, staff, and students related to program and institute-wide academic decisions. The Senate’s primary focus is the academic quality of all new and existing programs.

The Senate is the senior academic body of the university. Among other things, it advises on university academic standards, academic policies, and program approval and review. While business decisions are made by the President in consultation with the Board, the determination that a program meets the academic requirements and standards of the University is that of the Senate.
