Harcum College Partnership Agreement
New collaboration benefits aspiring veterinary experts in Pennsylvania.
St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SMUSVM) and Harcum College (Harcum) are pleased to highlight a new partnership that will support aspiring veterinarians who plan to pursue their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degrees.
Under this agreement, Harcum graduates who have successfully completed the Veterinary Nursing Associate’s Degree Program, and met all admissions requirements, will be eligible for direct entry* into the St. Matthew’s University DVM program.
Additional benefits of this pathway include an expedited application review process, a guaranteed admissions interview and eligibility for a $10,000 USD partnership scholarship. Excitingly, students are also eligible for additional financial support opportunities that help make our veterinary education even more accessible, such as the U.S. academic merit scholarship and Opportunity Grant.
“The Harcum College Veterinary Nursing Program is excited to offer our students and recent alumni who wish to pursue a veterinary education this unique opportunity,” shared Kathy Koar, M.Ed., CVT, Director of Veterinary Nursing at Harcum College. “Our new partnership with St. Matthew’s University provides students with both access and financial support in pursuit of their goals.”
“At St. Matthew’s University, we are proud to offer intentionally small class sizes that provide abundant opportunities for one-on-one instruction and hands-on learning,” said Zuhair Ismail, BVMS, ABVP. “With a supportive environment, strong curriculum and dedicated faculty, our students are well prepared for success in their veterinary journey and ready to build rewarding careers as internationally trained veterinarians.”
Established in 2005, SMUSVM proudly provides education and training for curious, collaborative and caring future veterinarians. Our expansive DVM program allows students to graduate in just over three years, after seven semesters on safe and modern Grand Cayman (part of the Cayman Islands) in the Basic Science program, and then three semesters of Clinical Medicine rotations at an associated veterinary school in the U.S., Canada or the U.K. Thanks to our strong curriculum, dedicated faculty and individualized support services, students achieve success on the NAVLE exam and go on to practice as internationally trained veterinarians.
*To receive direct entry, eligible Harcum graduates must complete an application, submit all post-secondary transcripts, undertake an interview with the SMUSVM admissions team, provide two letters of recommendation and share a personal statement (max. 500 words).
