Gulf Medical University Partnership Agreement

New partnership enhances MD and DVM program options for aspiring doctors and veterinarians.

GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools – Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM), Medical University of the Americas (MUA), St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine (SMUSOM) and St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SMUSVM) – are pleased to highlight our partnership with Gulf Medical University (GMU), which is located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This exciting collaboration will provide enhanced pathways for GMU students to enter one of our three Doctor of Medicine (MD) programs or our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, depending on their career aspirations.

DVM Students

GMU graduates who have completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Science or Pharmacy with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (75% or equivalent) are eligible for direct entry into SMUSVM’s DVM program. To qualify, candidates must successfully complete an undergraduate interview with the SMU DVM admissions team and provide at least two letters of recommendation from GMU’s Science Faculty.

MD Students

Graduates of Gulf Medical University’s (GMU) Higher Diploma of Pre-Clinical Science (HDPCS) Program, who meet the required GPA of 3.0 (75% or equivalent), have a unique pathway into a GUS Medical School MD program through the Twinning Program. The Twinning Program is a 6-year International Medicine Program, structured as 3 years of study at GMU followed by 3 years at SUSOM, MUA or SMUSOM. This program offers a seamless integration of education across partner institutions, providing GMU graduates with a comprehensive and internationally recognized MD education. This pathway allows GMU students to enter directly into Semester 3 of the respective GUS Med & Vet MD program, contingent upon successfully completing an interview and providing two letters of recommendation from GMU’s Science Faculty.

Additionally, GMU graduates who have completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Science or Pharmacy with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (75% or equivalent) are eligible for direct entry into a GUS Med & Vet MD program. To qualify, students must successfully complete an undergraduate interview with the admissions team and submit at least two letters of recommendation from GMU’s Science Faculty.

“We are thrilled to announce this collaboration with Gulf Medical University. This partnership represents a significant step forward in providing aspiring doctors and veterinarians from the UAE with a clear and structured pathway to pursue their professional dreams,” shared Diana Mockute, Chief Partnerships Officer, GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools. “By integrating our resources and expertise, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals and meeting the global demand for skilled practitioners. We look forward to welcoming GMU students to our medical and veterinary programs, and supporting them on their journey to making a positive impact in the world.”

Eligible MD and DVM students will also benefit from access to international grants and scholarships to support their financial investment, be guaranteed an interview and experience a streamlined admissions pathway into the respective programs. GUS Med & Vet is proudly committed to ensuring that we can help meet the global demand for more doctors and veterinarians, and we do this by ensuring that passionate future practitioners do not face undue barriers to an extensive medical education that features dedicated faculty, hands-on training and individualized support.
