St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SMUSVM) and Seneca Polytechnic are proud to announce a new educational pathway agreement that will support aspiring veterinary medicine students as they consider transitioning from college in Toronto, Ontario to veterinary school on Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
Under this agreement, eligible Seneca Polytechnic graduates who apply to the SMUSVM Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program will receive several exciting opportunities. They will benefit from an expedited application review process, undertake a guaranteed interview and qualify for a $10,000 USD Partnership Scholarship. They will also remain eligible for other meaningful grants and scholarships, such as the U.S. and Canadian Academic Scholarship and Opportunity Grant.
In order to qualify for these partnership benefits, successful Seneca Polytechnic graduates must apply within five years after graduation, must have an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher (out of 4.0), must have a minimum 2.7 GPA in all designated pre-requisite courses and must meet these designated admissions requirements.
“This novel partnership between St. Matthew’s University and Seneca Polytechnic will provide their graduates with the opportunity to become a veterinarian through our accelerated DVM program. It is heart-warming to be able to assist students to chase their dreams that they may have not thought possible previously,” said Dr. Brendan Lee, Executive Dean, St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine.
“We’re proud to offer our students this new pathway to further studies and great careers in veterinary medicine through this exciting new partnership with St. Matthew’s University,” said Nelson Rodrigues, Dean, Faculty of Community & Health, Seneca Polytechnic. “This opportunity will provide students with early hands-on training in both small and large animal care, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue their passion and attain a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.”
Seneca Polytechnic students who attend SMUSVM will experience a strong curriculum, instruction from dedicated faculty, and individualized academic and personal support. Hundreds of former veterinary students have immersed themselves in this expansive educational environment and gone on to develop careers as practicing veterinarians in the U.S. and Canada.
